How Lumin Works
Lumin is an AI-powered service designed to streamline guest interactions by providing seamless communication and support. From the moment a guest makes a reservation, Lumin is available to handle requests, answer questions, and assist with inquiries. If necessary, Lumin will redirect guests to hotel staff for personalized support.
Lumin operates using OpenAI models to ensure that interactions are context-specific and focused solely on hotel-related matters. The AI is tailored to maintain the hotel experience, and all responses are generated based on carefully structured commands to ensure it stays within this scope.
Privacy and Data Collection
Collection of User Data: Lumin may collect personal information such as names, contact details, languages, and special preferences, as retrieved from your hotel's API. This information is used solely for providing the Services and enhancing the guest experience. We do not collect or store unnecessary personal data.
Data Usage and Storage: Lumin uses data momentarily through the hotel's API. No hotel data is stored in our databases. Data is accessed and processed only as needed to provide the Services, ensuring that your hotel maintains control over the information.
Third-Party Services: Lumin partners with trusted platforms such as Google and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to securely store any data within our systems. These top-tier providers ensure data is handled with industry-leading security measures to protect your information.
OpenAI Data Handling: For AI interactions, we utilize OpenAI models. OpenAI deletes all chat data within 30 days, ensuring that guest conversations are handled with the highest standards of privacy. We do not retain chat data beyond this period.
AI Functionality and Limitations
Lumin, powered by AI, is carefully programmed to follow specific system commands that control its behavior. The AI:
- The AI models we use do not make independent decisions or take actions on their own.
- They cannot access any personal information unless it is explicitly provided to them.
- AI models we use are trained not to offer suggestions that could pose health or safety risks to guests.
Large Language Models (LLMs) process inputs in the form of text and return outputs as text. Based on these outputs, our system takes action—whether it's displaying the response to the guest or executing a function for the next step.
Communication via WhatsApp Business
Use of WhatsApp Business: Lumin utilizes WhatsApp Business to enhance communication with guests. By providing your contact information and opting to communicate via WhatsApp, you consent to receive messages from Lumin through this platform.
Automated Messaging: We may send automated messages through WhatsApp to facilitate communication, provide updates, and assist with your inquiries. These messages are intended to improve your experience and provide timely assistance.
Opt-Out Option: If you prefer not to receive messages via WhatsApp, you may opt out at any time by notifying us or adjusting your communication preferences within the Services.
Handling Personal Information
For AI interactions through the OpenAI API, only basic guest information—such as name, surname, language, and special preferences—is provided, as retrieved from your hotel's API. No additional personal data is shared.
We do not use a general AI that has access to all conversations or retains information across interactions. Each conversation generates a new AI instance with dynamic inputs relevant only to that specific interaction, ensuring data security and privacy.
Security
Lumin prioritizes the security of guest and hotel data. Our AI infrastructure is designed to operate strictly as a hotel assistant, responding only to hotel-related inquiries. If unrelated questions arise, the AI will consistently redirect conversations back to the hotel context.
Changes to Terms
Lumin reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Users are encouraged to review the Terms regularly. Continued use of the Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
